Ray Hayes was not ready to let the League Championship Series end.

With the San Francisco Seagulls backed into a corner, the left-handed Hayes held off the Boston Terriers. He took player of the game honors after he threw 9 innings allowing 3 runs. The Seagulls took the 5-3 win in a 9th-inning walk-off. The win cuts the series deficit for the Seagulls to 3-1 in the best-of-7 series.

Roy Caputo swatted a 3-run home run for San Francisco in the bottom of the ninth. The third baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.

"I really like what we did out there today," Hayes said after the game.

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Mission Field. The scheduled starters for the game are John Manders for Boston and Neil Meredith for San Francisco.
