When the stakes were high, Ben McHargue raised his game to match.

The right-handed McHargue turned in a stellar performance in Game 3 of the League Championship Series today, pitching a 9-inning, complete-game shutout to lead the Boston Terriers to victory. He allowed 4 hits and struck out 2. The win gave Boston a 2-1 lead over the Seattle Emeralds in the best-of-7 series.

McHargue, a native of Rosedale, Mississippi, was dealing all game. He kept Seattle hitters off-balance, while giving the Terriers 9 quality innings. McHargue threw 109 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 2.

"I just trusted my stuff," said McHargue.

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Puget Field. The scheduled starters for the game are Clint Schultz for Boston and Jason Lund for Seattle.
