Warren, Traders Sink
Bluebirds Again in Game 2 |
Riding the 2-hit performance
of left fielder Ken
Warren, the Chicago
Traders stopped the visiting Brooklyn
Bluebirds, 5-3, in Game 2 of the League
Championship Series today. Warren was 2 for 4 with a
home run, while scoring 3 runs for the Traders, who
now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
The Traders took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the
fifth inning. Facing Brooklyn hurler Gene
Lance with one out, Warren hit a solo home
run.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win
the home games," Warren said afterward. "It feels
nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to
do."
Game 3 is set to be played Friday, October 9th, 1953
at Flatbush Park. The scheduled starters for the
game are Joe
Shannon for Chicago and Jock
Casey for Brooklyn.
