Empires Hammered by Garrison, Drop Game 3 to Hawks
The Chicago Hawks have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading New York Empires, winning 6-5 at Hyde Park Stadium today. Hawks first baseman Matt Garrison was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win cuts the deficit facing the Hawks to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

Al Cobley, the Chicago second baseman, contributed a run-scoring double in the bottom of the seventh inning to make the score 6-5, Hawks. For the game, Cobley was 2 for 3 with 2 doubles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Garrison. "And not try to do too much."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Hyde Park Stadium. The scheduled starters for the game are Danny Fortunata for the New York Empires and Dan Manney for the the Chicago Hawks.
