Game 1 Victory for Hinton and New York

The New
York Knickerbockers started the League
Championship Series in style today, downing the
visiting Chicago
Traders at Knickerbocker Stadium by a score of
5-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7
series. Knickerbockers right-hander Herb
Hinton threw 9 innings allowing 3 runs.
Chesterfield, South Carolina-born Gary
Harmon came through in the clutch. In the
bottom of the seventh, with runners on 1st and 2nd
and the Knickerbockers trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run
double to right to put New York on top.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said
Hinton.
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow in New York. The
scheduled starters for the game are Eduardo
Rodriguez for Chicago and John
Ambrose for New York.
