Knickerbockers Win to
Extend Series Lead to 2-0 |
The New
York Knickerbockers got a strong performance
from pitcher John
Ambrose, who stymied the visiting Chicago
Traders en route to a win, 7-1, in Game 2 of
the League Championship Series today. The Traders
could never get a bead on the right-handed Ambrose,
who threw 8 innings allowing 1 run. The
Knickerbockers now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7
series.
Victor Rojas,
the New York shortstop, contributed a run-scoring
triple in the bottom of the third inning to make the
score 1-0, Knickerbockers. For the game, Rojas was 1
for 4 with a triple.
"Things broke our way today and that's great,"
Knickerbockers manager William Bowen said. "It's
important, though, to stay focused and not pat
yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played Friday, October
7th, 1955 in Chicago. The scheduled starters for the
game are Doug
Leonard for the New York Knickerbockers and Dave
Keen for the the Chicago Traders.
