Johnson Handcuffs
Emeralds, Empires Seize 3-2 Advantage in LCS
|
In a pivotal Game 5, the New
York Empires were hoping for a big game from
starter Lew
Johnson. They got one.
The right-hander shut out the Seattle
Emeralds, proving to be the difference-maker
as he led his club to a 5-0 victory. The Empires
took the 5-0 win over the Seattle
Emeralds to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7
series.
Johnson pitched a complete game for New York. The
right-hander was charged with no runs on 3 hits. He
struck out 7 during his 110-pitch performance.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win
the home games," Johnson said afterward. "It feels
nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to
do."
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday at Puget
Field in Seattle. Slated to start are Bob
Ott for the New York Empires and Juan
Buenrostro for the the Seattle Emeralds.
