Knickerbockers Win to Extend Series Lead to 3-0
The New York Knickerbockers are one game away from a sweep of the New York Empires today after a road win at Queens Field, 5-2. Knickerbockers left-hander Doug Leonard had a strong outing. He threw 9 innings of 4-hit ball. New York now holds a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 World Series.

Leonard was in the zone all game. He frustrated New York hitters while giving the Knickerbockers 9 innings of quality work. Leonard threw 107 pitches, allowing 4 hits and getting 3 punchouts.

"I got everyone together and told them they did great today," New York manager William Bowen told BNN reporters after the game. "But I warned them that even if we make it out of the World Series, it's only going to get harder."

The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Herb Hinton for New York and Gary Clarke for New York.
