New York Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 2-1
The New York Empires have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading San Francisco Seagulls, winning 6-4 at Queens Field today. Empires right-hander Bob Ott threw 7 innings of 5-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Empires to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.

In the top of the ninth, Randy Paterson stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Seagulls were trailing 6-4, but had runners on 1st and 3rd. That's when Ray McGuire made a terrific pitch and Paterson flied out. Gone was the dream of a San Francisco comeback.

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Willie Zarate for San Francisco and Gary Clarke for New York.
