The League Championship Series got off to a quiet start today, with the host Toronto Hurons taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Pobladores. Toronto left-hander Sam Partridge was marvelous at Toronto Park. The Hurons now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Partridge was in the zone all game. He frustrated Los Angeles hitters while giving the Hurons 9 innings of quality work. Partridge threw 121 pitches, allowing 6 hits and getting 8 punchouts.

"I was determined to go the distance," said Partridge.

Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Toronto Park in Toronto. The scheduled starters for the game are Jim Meier for Los Angeles and Kent Albrecht for Toronto.
