Pivotal Game 5 Goes to
Host Pobladores, 5-4 |
Toronto
catcher Roger
Turgeon pounded Los
Angeles Pobladores pitchers at San Vicente
Park, but it was not enough to keep the Hurons from
falling, 5-4 in Game 5 of the League Championship
Series. Turgeon was 2 for 4 with a home run, while
adding 4 RBI and scoring once, though he couldn't
keep the Hurons from slipping to a 3-2 deficit in
the best-of-7 series.
Royce Ingram,
who finished 5th in the ABL in slugging percentage
with .556 in 1951, chipped in for Los Angeles with a
run-scoring single in the bottom of the eighth. For
the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1
home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted
in.
"We're happy," Ingram told reporters after the win.
"When you're in the playoffs, you've got to treat
every game like it could be your last."
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday at Toronto
Park. Slated to start are Tony
Williams for the Los Angeles Pobladores and Jerome
Comeau for the the Toronto Hurons.
