Crowd Propels Pobladores to 7-1 Victory; Series Tied
at 1 |
Behind a bravura effort from
starter Wayne
Gibbs, the Los
Angeles Pobladores topped the Cleveland
Bobcats by the score of 7-1 today and got
their first win in the 1958 World Series. Gibbs
threw 5.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the Pobladores.
The win moves Los Angeles into a 1-1 tie with
Cleveland.
Hatrack Hines,
the Los Angeles left fielder, contributed a 2-run
single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the
score 3-1, Pobladores. For the game, Hines was 1 for
4. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager,"
said Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson.
The next game is set to be played for Friday,
October 17th , 1958 at Lakefront Stadium in
Cleveland.
