Knickerbockers, Packers Take Game 1, 6-3
|
The Cincinnati
Packers started the League Championship Series
in style today, winning on the road against the New
York Knickerbockers at Knickerbocker Stadium
by a score of 6-3 to take an early 1-0 lead in the
best-of-7 series. Packers center fielder Witness
York excelled. He was 3 for 5 with a home run
and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
The Packers benefited from a costly error in the top
of the fourth. With Dick
Lyon at bat and Cincinnati leading 3-2, the
New York miscue allowed Cincinnati to plate 1 and
take the lead, 4-2.
"I really like what we did out there today," Lyon
said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at
Knickerbocker Stadium in New York.
