Raucous Knickerbocker
Stadium Crowd Propels Knickerbockers to 4-2 Victory;
Series Tied at 1 |
Jose
Espinoza went the distance at Knickerbocker
Stadium today to drag the New
York Knickerbockers back to parity with the Cincinnati
Packers. The right-handed Espinoza needed 122
pitches to get through the complete game effort,
which the Knickerbockers won, 4-2. The clubs are now
tied 1-1 in the best-of-7 series.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Victor
Rojas came to bat in the bottom of the eighth.
Facing Cincinnati pitcher Marv
Traber, he hit a 2-0 fastball for a 2-run
double. It was a game-changer, putting New York on
top, 4-2.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine
innings hard," said New York manager William Bowen.
Game 3 is scheduled for Friday at Roman Arena in
Cincinnati.
