World Series Game 1 Victory for Clarke and Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Packers started the World Series in style today, downing the visiting Toronto Hurons at Roman Arena by a score of 6-4 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Packers right-hander Gary Clarke threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball.

With no one out in the bottom of the fifth, Barry Sheridan barreled up a changeup from Charlie Sinclair. The result was a 2-run home run, putting the Packers in front, 4-1.

In postgame comments, Sheridan told the Cincinnati Observer: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roman Arena in Cincinnati.
