Trent, Quakers Come Up Short in Bid for Road Win; Seagulls Take 1-0 Series Lead
When the games really matter, the San Francisco Seagulls put on their best show, beating the Philadelphia Quakers by a final score of 10-9 today. Gary Trent went 4 for 5 with a home run, a triple, and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. San Francisco now leads Philadelphia 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when San Francisco first baseman Joe Seidel, facing Howie Hinman, had a run-scoring single. It gave the Seagulls the 10-9 win.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Seidel said. "We did a good job of that today."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mission Field in San Francisco.
