Paterson, Seagulls Wallop
Quakers in Game 5 of WS |
The San
Francisco Seagulls have closed some of the gap
between themselves and the series-leading Philadelphia
Quakers, winning 7-2 at Quakers Stadium today.
Seagulls third baseman Randy
Paterson went 3 for 5 with a home run and a
triple, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The win
cuts the deficit facing the Seagulls to 3-2 in the
best-of-7 World Series.
San Francisco used the bat of Chuck
Olsen to get the win. The shortstop hammered a
3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put
the Seagulls ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4
at-bats, but it did its damage.
"This kind of win will certainly make our fans
happy," Paterson told the San Francisco Herald.
The next game is set to be played for Friday,
October 21st , 1960 at Mission Field in San
Francisco.
