Pobladores, Lords Play 14
to Settle Game 2, Los Angeles Now Leads Series 2-0

The Los
Angeles Pobladores nearly wasted a strong game
from starter Ernie
Backman, but were saved by some timely hitting
in a 14th inning walk-off win over the Baltimore
Lords today.
Backman pitched well in the 5-2 win at San Vicente
Park. He threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win
allowed Los Angeles to seize a 2-0 lead in the
best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Los Angeles won the game in the bottom of the 14th
inning. With one out and Danny
Coleman on the mound for Baltimore, center
fielder Glenn
Hibbler hit a dramatic 3-run home run,
bringing Pobladores fans to their feet.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some
opportunities," said Los Angeles manager Kurt
Peterson.
The next game is set to be played for Friday,
October 6th , 1961 at Seton Hill Stadium in
Baltimore.
