Almost There: Cincinnati On Cusp of LCS Triumph After 5-1 Win
|
The Cincinnati Packers moved to within one game of the World Series today, downing the visiting Cleveland Bobcats at Roman Arena by a score of 5-1. Packers left-hander Fred Ahrens had a strong outing in which he threw 9.0 innings of 1-hit ball. The win gives the Packers a 3-1 advantage in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Ahrens earned the win, going 9 strong innings for Cincinnati. The native of Allentown, Pennsylvania, allowed just 1 hit, while striking out 7. Cleveland hitters did next to nothing against the left-hander.
"I was determined to go the distance," said Ahrens.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Roman Arena in Cincinnati.
