League Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Myers and San Francisco
The San Francisco Seagulls started the League Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting Montreal Habitants at Mission Field by a score of 5-3 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Seagulls left-hander Mike Myers threw 7.0 innings allowing 3 runs.

Had Mike Tucker not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Tucker hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Seagulls.

"We're one game closer to our goal," San Francisco manager Al Borie said later. "It isn't any more complicated than that."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mission Field in San Francisco.
