Eduardo Rodriguez pitched a gem to help the San Francisco Seagulls escape with a tight 2-0 victory over the Montreal Habitants in a low-scoring League Championship Series contest today. The left-handed Rodriguez threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Seagulls on a day when their offense dried up. San Francisco now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.

Rodriguez, who was born in Sagua la Grande, Cuba, threw 110 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no runs.

"I'll be honest," said Rodriguez. "I didn't have much left in the tank."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 5th , 1962 at LaSalle Stadium in Montreal.
