League Championship Series Game 1 Victory for Peters and Chicago
The Chicago Hawks started the League Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting Toronto Hurons at Hyde Park Stadium by a score of 4-2 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Hawks left-hander Bobby Peters threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball.

Jerry Bischoff, the 8th overall pick in the 1954 draft, aided the Chicago cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the catcher went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

Bischoff told a Chicago Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hyde Park Stadium in Chicago.
