Home Field Advantage: Ray, Chicago Open League Championship Series with Win
|
The Chicago Hawks started the League Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting New York Empires at Hyde Park Stadium by a score of 4-1 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Hawks left fielder Bill Ray went 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
Ray had a critical at-bat in the bottom of the seventh for Chicago, coming through with a 2-run single to put Chicago in front, 3-1.
Empires manager John Harris did not take questions after the game, telling assembled reporters that he would hold a press conference "if and when we win the World Series."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Hyde Park Stadium in Chicago.
