Chicago Tops New York Again, 2-0
|
Bobby Peters pitched a gem to help the Chicago Hawks escape with a tight 2-0 victory over the New York Empires in a low-scoring League Championship Series contest today. The left-handed Peters threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball in the win, just enough for the Hawks on a day when their offense dried up. Chicago now leads the best-of-7 series 2-0.
Peters, who was born in Missouri City, Texas, threw 106 pitches over 9 innings, while allowing no runs.
"We haven't stopped playing," New York manager John Harris said. "We didn't get this far to give up."
The next game is set to be played for Friday, October 8th , 1965 at Queens Field in New York.
