Brooklyn Wins at Home to Take 2-1 Lead in LCS
The Brooklyn Bluebirds got a strong performance from pitcher Damon Rutherford, who stymied the visiting New York Knickerbockers en route to a win, 11-1, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series today. The Knickerbockers could never get a bead on the right-handed Rutherford, who threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The Bluebirds now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.

Rutherford, the Brooklyn right-hander, went 9 innings, allowing 1 run on 6 hits. He collected 6 strikeouts.

"We maximized our offense today," said Brooklyn skipper John Meeker. "That makes everyone's life easier."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Flatbush Park in Brooklyn.
