Pivotal Game 5 Goes to Host Terriers, 5-3
|
Game 5 was big. So was Jeff Butler.
In leading Boston to a crucial 5-3 victory over the Dallas Wranglers at Atlantic Avenue Grounds today, the Boston starter rose to the occasion, tossing 6 good innings. Butler threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball as the Terriers defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Divisional Series.
In the bottom of the seventh, Boston catcher Don Bozza hit a 2-run single to center field. The clutch hit made it, 5-3, Terriers.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Terriers manager Tim Hageman said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 8th , 1968 at Bluff Park in Dallas.
