Knickerbockers Edge Wranglers 3-2 to Open WS
|
The New York Knickerbockers powered past the hometown Dallas Wranglers, 3-2, in the opener of the World Series at Bluff Park today. New York starting pitcher Dave Torre threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Knickerbockers now lead the series 1-0.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Danny Abril came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Dallas pitcher Ken Morrison, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 3-2.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Torre.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bluff Park in Dallas.
