Dallas Takes 1-0 Series Lead with Walk-off Win
|
The Dallas Wranglers started the Divisional Round in dramatic fashion, stealing Game 1 from the Montreal Habitants in a walk-off. Dallas won, 4-2, behind a good day from starter Barry Gilmore. The right-hander threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball in the win, which gave the Wranglers a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
The decisive blow was delivered by John Hammit in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off former first round draft pick Jerry Meek to win the game for Dallas. The home crowd went nuts.
"Barry set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Dallas manager William Albrecht.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Bluff Park in Dallas.
