Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Habitants, 2-1
|
The Montreal Habitants moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the visiting Dallas Wranglers at LaSalle Stadium by a score of 2-1. Habitants right-hander Manny Esparza had a strong outing in which he threw 8.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Habitants a 3-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
Esparza earned the win, going 8.1 strong innings for Montreal. The right-hander allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 11. Dallas hitters had little success against him.
"Gutsy performance by Manny," said Montreal manager Michel Alexandre Cauchon.
