Home Loss Shrinks Captains Series Lead to 2-1
|
The Philadelphia Quakers have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading San Diego Captains, winning, 6-1, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Quakers right-hander Mel Hartman threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball. The win cuts the deficit facing the Quakers to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship Series.
Hartman went the distance for Philadelphia, allowing 1 run on 6 hits, while striking out 4. He induced 9 fly balls and 12 ground balls.
Hartman attributed the win to his team's "focus and intensity."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Diego Sporting Complex in San Diego.
