Captains Win, Move to Within 1 Game of League Championship Series
|
The San Diego Captains moved to within one game of the League Championship Series, downing the Denver Burros on the road at Gates Crescent Park by a score of 8-4. Captains right-hander Mark Pike had a strong outing. He threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The win gives the Captains a 3-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Divisional Round.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Earl Peters? The San Diego catcher had a 2-run single in the top of the first inning to put the Captains on top, 3-0. For the game, Peters had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Peters said after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gates Crescent Park in Denver.
