Emeralds Earn Win with Late Rally
|
The Seattle Emeralds satisfied the home crowd at Puget Field, treating them to a season-opening win, 1-0, over the Los Angeles Pobladores. Starting Pitcher Mike Harris was the standout performer for Seattle. Seattle reliever Fred Wild picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Phil Lester took the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Charlie Hall came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Los Angeles pitcher Phil Lester, he hit a 1-2 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seattle on top, 1-0.
Seattle manager Mark Velez called it "a good, solid win."
