Pobladores 6-5 Winners Versus Seattle
The Los Angeles Pobladores dealt the Seattle Emeralds a 6-5 loss at San Vicente Park. John Fine was the star on offense. He was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jim Arndt was the winner. Over 6 innings, he yielded 5 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Larry Seger picked up the save for Los Angeles, his 3rd of the year.

In the bottom of the 6th, second baseman Manuel Castillo gave Los Angeles the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Pobladores had been trailing 5-4, but the two-out single off Seattle pitcher Phil Moore changed that -- and Los Angeles went on to win.

"We're in a marathon, not a sprint," said Castillo. "But I like how we're playing right now."

The loss puts Seattle at 5-2.
