Hawks Mow Down Pobladores, 14-2
|
Chicago Hawks starter Bill Hill hurled his team past the Los Angeles Pobladores, 14-2. Hill, the 15th overall pick in the 1968 draft, went the distance for Chicago. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. The win has Chicago at 26-48.
Bill Ray had a big 2-run triple for the Hawks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Chicago leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Novoa and swatted a triple to right. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Hawks ahead, 4-0.
"We stunk tonight," said losing manager Kurt Peterson, matter-of-factly.
