Knickerbockers Rack Up 3-2 Win Versus Washington
|
The New York Knickerbockers beat the Washington Eagles, 3-2, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Chris Hull, in particular, was impressive. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Ollie Hundley notched his 5th save in 7 chances. The last-place Eagles have dropped 5 straight games.
Dave Lester had a big run-scoring triple for the Knickerbockers in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a slider from Ricky Grill, who is tied for 2nd in the NBL in holds with 9, and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 5th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Knickerbockers ahead, 3-0.
"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," Lester told the New York Observer.
