Pobladores Suffer 3-2 Road Loss
|
San Francisco parlayed a decent outing from starter Jimmy Trent into a solid win over the Los Angeles Pobladores. The final score was 3-2. The winner was Trent. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was George Jakubowski. Dave Maughan got credit for the save for San Francisco. It was his 4th of the year.
John Cobb had a big run-scoring double for the Seagulls in the bottom of the second inning. With San Francisco leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a screwball from George Jakubowski, who finished 4th in the NBL in innings pitched with 250.0 in 1963, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Seagulls ahead, 2-0.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Los Angeles manager Kurt Peterson said, following the tough loss.
San Francisco goes to 46-26. The win puts them 8 games up in their division.
