Cleveland Bats Quiet in 7-1 Loss
|
Knickerbockers first baseman Francisco Chavez left his imprint on his team's 7-1 win over the Cleveland Bobcats. Chavez went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 for New York in the contest. New York pitcher Ray Schifsky got the win, upping his record to 8-2. Tim McDonald got the loss. Cleveland has now lost 5 consecutive games.
Wayne Baker, who finished 2nd in the NBL in triples with 12 in 1966, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the left fielder drove in one run.
"I like to lead by example," said Chavez. "I'm glad I could contribute to a good win."
