Detroit beat Houston on the strength of starting pitcher Scott Litwak's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 9-3. The Wolverines improved their record to 37-34 with the win over Houston.

The Wolverines had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the sixth. The score was 9-1, Detroit, with no one out. Houston, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Rich Lewis dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 splitter, he struck out.
