The Toronto Hurons dealt the Boston Terriers a 5-3 loss at Dominion Field. Bill Hunt, who finished 4th in the ABL in batting average with .325 in 1971, was the star on offense. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Steve Persenaire. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1. With the win, Toronto has a record of 31-42. Boston falls to 34-39.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, Hunt hit a fastball from Tim Jepperson for a 2-run home run. The Hurons, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"I'm proud to be a part of what we've got going on here," Hunt told the Toronto Times. "It's a great group and we're happy with the win."
