Bulls Rally to Nose Past San Diego
The Kansas City Bulls dealt the San Diego Captains a 6-5 loss at San Diego Sporting Complex. Buddy Shingleton, who won the Rookie of the Year Award in 1963, was the star on offense. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Dave Fields in relief. His record improves to 1-3. Jack DeWitt took the loss. Bob Crosby earned his 22nd save, after closing out the game.

Shingleton had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a 3-1 curveball from Jack DeWitt, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Bulls a 6-5 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Shingleton.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Shingleton told the Kansas City News. "It's as simple as that."

The win gives Kansas City a season record of 41-32.
