Emeralds Drop Drillers, 2-1
|
Seattle pitcher Pedro Nunez did his part in helping his team defeat the Houston Drillers, 2-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Nunez, the winner, moves to 8-3. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Keith Nettles recorded the save, his 3rd.
With Seattle leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Nunez hit a changeup from Billy Gray for a solo home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Emeralds ahead, 2-0.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Houston manager Steven Palps.
The win elevated the Emeralds to 38-35.
