Traders Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Blockbusters, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Chicago Traders and the Los Angeles Blockbusters, pitcher Larry Cox was the difference between victory and defeat. The Chicago right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Traders win. Randy Birch nailed down his 4th save. Chicago has 3 straight wins, Los Angeles 5 straight losses.
Fran Precourt, who finished 5th in the NBL in doubles with 41 last year, contributed to the Chicago win with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
After the game, Chicago manager Larry Link applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
