Quakers Popped by Packers, 6-1
|
Chris Montgomery never let Philadelphia get something going. The Cincinnati right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Packers to a 6-1 win. At 35-38, Cincinnati is in 5th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
Frank Bohley had a big 2-run double for the Packers in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Cincinnati leading 3-1 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a sinker from Fred Harrison, who is a two-time Royal Ricketts Award winner, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 15th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Packers ahead, 5-1.
"I put my work in and trusted the process," said Montgomery.
