The New York Empires picked up a win at Atlantic Station Field, defeating the Atlanta Generals, 6-1, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Jon Pierce was an essential part of his team's success. New York reliever Dave Kretz was the winner. His record is now 5-6. The losing pitcher was Jose Pineda. New York now has a record of 40-33 with the win.

Chuck Estrada drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for New York. The 28-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the tenth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jose Pineda. It was his 4th walk of the season.

Said losing manager Philipe Yazzie: "The list goes on and on of things we just flat out didn't do."
