Drillers Absorb 2-1 Home Loss

Both teams had their chances, but the Detroit Wolverines eventually prevailed.
Detroit Wolverines starter Larry Black pitched a strong game against the Houston Drillers at Sam Houston Field, leading the Wolverines to victory, 2-1. The win elevated the Wolverines to 38-34.
Duane Simmons, who finished 5th in the ABL in runs with 93 in 1972, had a direct impact on the outcome. Simmons contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the first inning to put Detroit up, 2-0.
Detroit manager Alex Wobbema said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
