Packers Absorb 8-5 Loss at Monument Field
|
Washington and Cincinnati duked it out and the Eagles came out victorious.
The Washington Eagles had to overcome a big game from Cincinnati left fielder Stan Timmons to leave Monument Field with a victory. And they did, winning, 8-5. Timmons went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The save was credited to Don McCoy, his 7th.
Ed Cook had a big 2-run triple for the Eagles in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Washington leading 3-2 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a splitter from John Stoddard, who is tied for 6th in the NBL in quality starts with 11, and swatted a triple to right. It was his 1st triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Eagles ahead, 5-2.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Cook.
The win puts Washington at 29-47.
