The home crowd had a good time watching the Chicago Hawks and Houston Drillers get after it.

Don Martinez helped his team muscle past the Chicago Hawks, 9-5. In the game, the Houston shortstop was 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Syed Farooqi, the winning pitcher, is now 7-6. He went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs on 9 hits, while fanning 6 and walking 4.

Ed Shofner helped out the Houston cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring walk. For the game, the third baseman was 1 for 3 with a walk.

"Feels good to get the job done," Shofner said after the game.
