Emeralds Earn 6-5 Win Versus Hawks
|
The Seattle Emeralds beat the Chicago Hawks, 6-5, at Puget Field. Ron Roseboro, who finished 2nd in the ABL in stolen bases with 30 in 1966, starred for Seattle. He went 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times. The win went to Ron Woods in relief, making him now 1-0. Bruce Walker took the loss for Chicago. Seattle, at 32-39, occupies 5th place in the American Baseball League Western Division.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out, Roseboro hit a sinker from Bruce Walker for a run-scoring single. The Emeralds, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
Roseboro told reporters after the game: "This one was touch and go, but we were able to put it in the win column."
