In a low-scoring contest, Denver pitcher Juan Ramirez was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 3-0 win. Ramirez, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up no walks. Frank Combs recorded the save for Denver, his 8th of the season.
The Burros got a big at-bat from second baseman Kevin Gunn. For the game, Gunn was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave Denver a 2-0 lead.
"Juan's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said Denver manager Clark Anderson.
With the win, the Burros sit at 42-32.
