Empires Slap 5-3 Loss on Detroit
|
Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York Empires and Detroit Wolverines.
New York Empires starter Nate Frampton pitched well against the Detroit Wolverines at Queens Field, leading his team to a win, 5-3. In 7 innings, Frampton surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. He allowed 3 runs. Jack Pratt, who leads the ABL in wins with 9, nailed down the save.
Len Finnegan, the 12th overall pick in the 1972 draft, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. For the game, the catcher drew 1 walk.
"I'm happy we won," said Frampton. "That's first and foremost. My goal is for the team to win the day I pitch, however it's done."
The 'W' lifts New York's record to 45-28.
