Hawks Take 10-2 Pounding
San Francisco pitcher Dennis Dixon had a large part in his team beating the Chicago Hawks, 10-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Dixon, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1961 draft, went the distance for San Francisco. He gave up 2 runs on 5 hits. The third-place Seagulls bumped their record to 38-37.

Scott Wagner had a big 3-run home run for the Seagulls in the top of the second inning. With San Francisco leading 3-0 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he sized up a slider from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Abbott and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Seagulls on top, 6-0.

"I made some pitches when I had to," said Dixon.
