The Seattle Emeralds got a rain-soaked win over the Houston Drillers.
Behind an impressive start by Fred Wild, Seattle beat Houston, 4-2. Wild got the win, improving to 5-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run.
Seattle took the lead, 4-1, on Ramon Montoya's 13th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Houston pitcher Bill Switzer in the top of the eighth.
"It's so much easier when you throw good pitches," said Wild.
Seattle has now won 3 straight, while the Drillers have lost 3 in a row.
