Empires Win, 4-1, at Detroit

The rain did not keep New York and Detroit from finishing their game.
Led by Rick Lintner, the New York Empires defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 4-1. Lintner was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Empires. Jack Neenan, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 7 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 3-5. Picking up the save was Jack Pratt, his 1st.
With New York leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Lintner came up to bat against Detroit pitcher Danny Strickland. Lintner hit a fastball to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season put the Empires on top, 4-0.
"That's how you're going to be successful," said Empires manager Dan Whiting. "It starts with pitching and it will always be pitching."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for New York.
