Quakers Earn 6-3 Win Versus Washington
|
Starting pitcher Bob Freeland pitched well enough to help the Philadelphia Quakers beat the Washington Eagles, 6-3. The winning pitcher was Freeland, now 3-4. He tossed 6.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 3. Bill Smith earned save number 5 this season.
Philadelphia used the hitting of Tim Hunt to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run single in the top of the third inning to put the Quakers on top, 2-0. For the game, Hunt had 1 home run and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Bob was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Philadelphia manager Jeff Green.
The National Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Quakers have a record of 45-32.
